IMDB rating: 6.70 Plot: Fictionalized account of the battle of the Ardennes in December 1944. An intelligence officer, Lt. Col. Dan Riley, is convinced that the Germans are amassing tanks and troops for an attack but he can’t get anyone to believe him. When the attack is finally launched, he correctly deduces that a shortage of petrol will lead the tanks to a massive Allied fuel depot. Along the way, we encounter a number of characters including a green Lieutenant in his first battle, the grizzled American tank commander who is worried about his black market operation and a group of German soldiers posing as American MP’s. |

Was General Dwight Eisenhower A Coward?
In World War One,unlike MacArthur and Patton,Eisenhower did not have a combat command. He never even left the states. In World War Two,Eisenhower was never ever near to any actual combat.During the Battle of the Bulge, for three days he hid inside his headquarters for fear of assassination by Germans in American uniforms.Eisenhower had no combat decorations, again unlike Patton and MacArthur.I would like to hear opinions about this man’s record and conduct.
Oh YES defiantly he was in charge of operation torch the so called invasion of North Africa when it was only Morocco and whilst the troops were Invading Morocco the great Eisenhower was in a British Bunker 600 Miles away in Gibraltar
and he only moved his Headquarters to europe after The allies had liberate all of France
there are No records of Eisenhower Visiting troops in the Field Like Churchill did in North Africa
are people aware that Eisenhower was also a war criminal ordering the Murder of 1.7 Million german POWS in 1945 this link shows 3,030,000 on Google are they all Wrong No

"There is the illusion that the New Germany left after the annexations can be reduced to a ‘pastoral state’. It cannot be done unless we exterminate or move 25,000,000 people out of it."

A coward? Not by any means. Events conspired against Ike getting a combat command, even though he desired one, both in WW1 and 2.
Ice | Dec 25, 2009
Just because a man is chained to a desk does not mean that he lacks courage. Actually taking on a job requiring leadership is an act of bravery unto itself. Try taking on the responsibility for hundreds of thousands of troops or arguing with the Britsih Army Chiefs or Churchill and see if you do not leave a puddle in your shorts. No Ike was not a coward.

Huh? I see a troll lurking in the bushes here…,I guess Supreme Commander of Allied forces in Europe must mean something different to you. IF you bother to look at the results of his efforts you might see that he accomplished a great deal without serving in combat.
He was a good president..by comparison to the last five or six we have had. Reagan never saw combat either..but he sure claimed he had at times.
Eisenhower’s farewell address on Jan 17, ‘61 proved to be prophetic..
Anna Og | Dec 25, 2009
I believe Dwight had a Staff role in WW1, which meant he wasn’t expected to be charging over th etop of trenches and was doing a much more important task ensuring the left hand knew what the right hand was doing. This can mean the difference between life and death for thousands!
As a junior officer, you work where you are ASSIGNED, not where you want to!!
By WW2 he was in a senior liaison role and later in charge of the Allied operations in North Africa and Sicily before being promoted to command the D-Day invasion.
By this time his role as an overall commanding General was not so much a tactical one (Montgomery had that role for D-Day and about a month afterwards, up until Operation Cobra, the break-out) as it was a POLITICAL and DIPLOMATIC role. Because:
1. He needed to keep politicians, leaders, generals and other service commanders off the backs of his very busy generals.
2. He had a polyglot command, including Americans, Brits, Scots, Irish, Australians, French, Poles, Czechs, Free French resistance… and had to keep them working together.
He was a "man of the people" and immensely well liked by his men, who called him "Ike". He probably won the US Presidency based on the veteran vote.
But he was not flawless. He had a weak sense of strategy and once the race across France began, it seemed natural to allow it to stretch eastward and link up with the invasion from southern France. But all this spread available forces thinner and thinner and made the supply issues bigger and bigger. By spreading out, Eisenhower guaranteed the war would not end in 1944. Montgomery’s idea for a narrow front was, in retrospect, correct. His lack of strategic control of Allied forces was a blunder.
As for the assassination idea by the Brandenburgers — Ike had no choice but to allow himself to be protected. It’s the equivalent of the body protecting the brain, or heart, to use an analogy.
Ike was no coward. I think about the number of meetings he must have attened to keep the invasion on track — what patience!!
Ike was also special in that — as a general — he was a rare commodity. Most generals are fire signs, such as Aries. Ike was a Libran, a very rare combination.

Since you are obviously a young child who knows nothing about the military I will help Ice and the others enlighten you. Not very many people in the Army choose their assignments. MacArthur was never in danger. Look it up. Where did you get that about hiding in his headquarters? Totally silly.
I must ask you, if you were a four star general would you be out running around the front lines? Of course not. No matter how much you children bluster, never having heard a shot fired in anger you have not idea.
On top of that, he was operating under orders. But l think you just put this question on here to get peoples backs up. No intelligent person would have asked such and idiotic question.
I will no doubt be reported by you. But no one cares, it means nothing.
Forgot to mention, Obama never heard a shot fired in anger, nor did Bush, Clinton, Reagen, LBJ, Roosevelt, I guess YOU would call them cowards.
JimH | Dec 25, 2009
During the Battle Of The Bulge, the Germans infiltrated the US army and caused a lot of disruption. It got so bad the Americans believed they couldn’t trust anyone, and even their own Generals had to go through security checks. As Top Man, Eisenhower had to be kept safe. He didn’t hide away, but his life could not be risked. If he had been assasinated, the allies would have been demoralised. Patton was a great general, but he had a vast ego. Kind of like MacArthur.
Tony B | Dec 25, 2009
During World War One he wanted to fight, but our government gave him a desk job , by the time of World War Two both Churchill and Roosevelt knew that they needed him for the top commanding job, and by the way he was NO Coward! General Patton, cried on Eisenhower’s shoulder at one time, because Patton had a big mouth and Ike, was going to have him return to the states, this was no long before D-Day.

Read his accounts just before the D-Day landings. If the landings failed he was going to take all the blame for all the allies. Eisenhower was a man of dual talents. He was a soldier, and he had diplomatic skill. He was constantly settling fights with Patton and Montgomery.

IMDB rating: 6.70 Plot: Set in Europe during WWII, a group of American soldiers are in the process of being shipped off to military prison for a variety of infractions, ranging from desertion to murder. While they’re being transported, a German artillery attack hits the convoy, killing the MPs and enabling four of the prisoners to escape. The group decides their best bet is to head to neutral Switzerland where they can avoid the fighting and prison. As they make their way to what they think will be freedom, they end up volunteering for a commando mission to steal a V2 warhead for the French Underground. Somehow, the team must sneak into the most heavily guarded base in German territory, steal the Nazi’s most precious military hardware, and bring it back to the allies without getting arrested again by their own side. |

Is inglorious bastards is better than pulp fiction?
No pulp is maybe my favorite movie and i can’t say bastards is really even very good……I don’t understand why people like it i think it was so-so at best.
brooklyn | Feb 02, 2010
Simply put, yes.
Better written, better directed, better performed and overall better quality. Pulp Fiction is really cool and all plus it’s really influential, but Inglorious Bastards is Tarantino’s first masterpiece (he even cleverly says so himself in his own movie.)
It’s sort of like Sergio Leone. The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly is his most popular film, but Once Upon a Time in the West and Once Upon a Time in America are considered to be his masterpieces.

In spite of the interception do you still regard Manning as best qb in the game right now?
I think that right now he is the best qb in the league. I just think as a team the saints played better and got some breaks along the way in that game and colts made costly errors.
For example Saints won the unexpected onside kick to start the 3rd quarter which gave them an extra possession and lead to them being ahead when they scored on that drive.
Garcins dropped the ball on a critical 3rd down in which colts were up by 1 at midway of 3rd quarter and saints got a touchdown to go back up.
Also their special teams played better. Saints kicker nailed 3 field goals from beyond 40 yards and stover missed only field goal attempt for Colts. Also when you look at it the defense played better. Colts linebackers and defensive backs failed to grab balls that were deflected that could have been touchdowns and the play by porter was just great that ball was not underthrown or overthrown or thrown in an area with no receiver it was great anticipation by porter who took the risk knowing that if he had missed and given up a big play or touchdown the saints would have basically had the last possession of the game or the colts would have only gotten ball back with less than one minute.
I still think Manning is best qb right now. He is dangerous with a limited running game and while he has a good set of receivers he dont have a top 3 receiver like a fitzgerald, moss, andre johnson. He has good receivers and he elevates their games. While Brady has 3 rings I cant say that he is better. During those super bowl runs it was plays by the defense and the kicking game which ensured their superbowl. Brady never led his team to a comeback touchdown drive. Also during early 2000’s colts D was really bad and pressure was on manning to score over 30 points however now that his defense is good the colts have beaten the pats 6 out of last 7 times. And also Brady has been unable to win a championship since 05 even though he has better receivers now (walker and moss) due to fact that there is more competition steelers, ravens, jets, colts, chargers, and the fact that he is being studied more.
No Manning’s overrated

the best right now is Drew Brees
cmb(Saints SUPER BOWL CHAMPS) | Feb 08, 2010
He is the best the way he can confuse a defense is amazing. Rings don’t mean nothing, Dan Marino is hailed as one of the best but he has never won a ring. I think he can lead the Colts to super bowl 45 and win this time.
sulaimonseddiqi | Feb 08, 2010
Brett Favre throws a crappy pass, yet everyone wants to defend him. Porter makes a great play, and at worse one can say Manning made a bad read, and everyone calls his legacy into question. Most of you would be in heaven if Manning was traded to your team. I don’t think one interception does anything to his legacy. He is still the best QB in my opinion.
Doug | Feb 08, 2010
Take all NFL QB stats, regular season wins, and media hype, roll it up in a ball, and throw it out the window.
An NFL QB is paid to win.
His legacy is formed in the few moments he absolutely, positively, must make the play on the biggest stage the sport offers.
Now, if a super bowl was decided by a best out of three games, I think Manning wins most times. Since the SB is one game for all the marbles, I’ll take Brady over Manning everytime.

IMDB rating: 7.20 Plot: Writer/director Sophie Barthes crafts this metaphysical tragicomedy, which straddles the line between reality and fantasy, set in a world where souls are extracted from humans and traded as commodites. Paul Giamatti is an anxious New Yorker who finds the answer to his deep-rooted malaise after stumbling upon an article about a high-tech company that claims to have found a solution to human suffering. By deep-freezing souls, claims the company, they can give their customers a life free from fear, doubt, and worry. Eager to free himself from the emotional burden of angst, Giamatti eagerly enlists their services. Trouble arises, however, when Giamatti’s soul is swiped by a soul-trafficking “mule” who in turn gives it to a no-talent Russian soap opera actress. Now, in order to get back the soul that is rightfully his, Giamatti must make the arduous trip to St. Petersburg, along the way discovering that the true key to happiness isn’t the absence of pain, but the ability to experience the entire spectrum of emotion and cherish the things that really matter. |

Can anyone help me come up with names for my characters?
I’m writing a story, but I’m having trouble coming up with good names for my characters. I need names from desert countries (Egypt, Arabia (?), ect.)
Please don’t tell me to check some place that lists names from them countries ’cause I already know some places to check, but I don’t want to go through some long list for names unless I have to.
Here’s some stuff about my characters and their current names (they’re all Japanese because manga has infected my mind XD) in case it’ll help.
Current Name: Rin/Rei Name Meaning: Cold or resevered/Ghost (I think)
About: He’s the main character and is an imortal, genderless being (though refered to and lives as a boy.) He can easily pass for either gender (for obvious reasons) and doesn’t show his true feelings often, usually putting on a casual front and he’s a bit childish. He looks 12 but is actually over 200. He has many powers.
Note: His name doesn’t have to be like the others.
Current Name: Natsu Name Meaning: Summer
About: He’s the younger brother of the king and the comanding general of the royal army (or whatever you call the leader of an army.) He controls water and his personality reflect that, meaning he’s usually very easy-going/goes with the flow, but when something truly angers him he becomes terrifying (usual when those he cares about are in harmed or threatened.)
Current Name: Sai Name Meaning: My son (I think)
About: He’s the king’s advisor and best friend. He controls earth/ground and is a very serious, intelligent person.
Note: His name doesn’t have to be like the others.
Current Name: Aki Name Meaning: Fall
About: He’s the king and controls the element air. He’s usually a calm induvidual but can become fierce. He’s a very doting father.
Current Name: Gertrude/Sasha Name Meaning: ??? (I never looked it up)
About: She’s a Roma and controls spirit. She was an old lady when she was known as Gertrude, but after making a contract with Rin/Rei she’s become a enternally young woman in her twenties named Sasha. She can see into people’s hearts and is very care-free and a bit motherly of Rin/Rei.
Note: Her anem can be a Roma/Gypsy name and I need a name for her old self and young self.
Current Name: Haru Name Meaning: Spring
About: He’s the prince and is only 9. He controls plants. Since he’s still a child he behaves like one and is very fun-loving and care-free. He doesn’t think before he acts so he can often get in trouble but his bodyguard helps keep him from getting into any serious trouble.
Current Name: Taiki or Taki (I forget which one’s right for the meaning) Name Meaning: Atmisphere (sp)
About: He’s the prince’s guard, closest friend, and big brother figure. He’s only 17, the second youngest of the group, but he looks older than he is. He looks intimidating, but he’s actually very gentle. He controls the beasts/animals (as an element) and has a strong love of nature and animals that most of his race share.
Note: His name can be something Native American.
I also need help coming up with a name for the country (which is a desert country if you didn’t figure it out) and the races.
The races are -
Trukin- Rin/Rei’s the last member of the race which was known for it’s pwoers and believed to be the children of Gods (which is where the name comes from. True comebined with Kin.)
Roma- Gertrude/Sasha’s race and based on the Roma/gypsies.
Nagain- Sai’s race. Known for their fair skin that never seeems to darken, beauty, and intelligence. (The names was just something that popped into my head.)
Unnamed- Taiki/Taki’s race and simular to Native Americans.
